Abrahams & Carlisle challenging the skills shortage by taking on apprentices

Bradford Based Joiners and Shopfitters Abrahams & Carlisle Ltd, have recently recruited four new apprentices to join their team. The apprentices take up the following positions with the company; two Bench Hands, one Site Joiner and one Plumbing apprentice.

Director, Jonathan Hemingway, (pictured centre) who also started as an apprentice joiner 27 years ago commented that,

“Abrahams & Carlisle’ have a long tradition of employing apprentices and many existing staff started their apprenticeship with the company.”

The economy is looking more positive as work picks up for Abrahams & Carlisle Ltd, who have recently been awarded two bar fit out projects in the Grand Arcade Leeds. The company also won a million pound contract for a new Health Gym concept in Walsall. On retaining and replacing skilled staff members Director Jonathan Hemmingway added,

“There are signs that there will be a skill shortage locally with the upturn in construction. It is key moving forward that we focus on training our own staff and we feel apprenticeships are the way forward.”
