Since starting the programme in July of last year, the company has employed four local university graduates. Vicky Lobb, a graduate from York St John University, and one of the first to join the programme has recorded top sales figures for January across the company.
Vicky said: ‘I am really pleased to have delivered record sales in only my seventh month at the company. To be able to make such a significant contribution to the business already is very rewarding. After graduating last summer I wanted to stay in York and the Autohorn graduate programme is just what I was looking for. I wanted to join a company which would offer me a career, not just a job. There are great opportunities to develop and progress here.’
Throughout the programme the graduates are able to spend time in all areas of the business to ensure they have a thorough understanding of the company ethos and to increase their commercial awareness. They undergo sales, marketing and customer service training as well as having the opportunity to manage a team. The graduates are also encouraged to spend time out in the field learning more about the wider industry.
Vassilis Theochari, the most recent graduate to join the programme, and originally from Hertfordshire said: ‘I feel really lucky to have joined a company like Autohorn. It’s going through a strong period of growth and it’s great to have been given the opportunity to start my career here at such an exciting time. I’m looking forward to learning all the different aspects of running a successful business and becoming part of the team.’
