DLA Piper marching with pride

DLA Piper is set to march in the Leeds Pride parade this year, becoming the first global law firm to do so. The event, now in its tenth year, is a celebration of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) culture across the world.

As part of the festivities, DLA Piper will be hosting a breakfast networking event with global property management company, JLL. Guest speakers include Alison Lowe who is CEO of Yorkshire-based wellbeing charity, Touchstone, a local Councillor and a Stonewall Senior Champion. She will discuss her views on workplace barriers that LGBT communities face, as well as the role of pride in championing social change.

DLA Piper Leeds Office Managing Partner, Sarah Day, said: “We are proud to support diversity and inclusion across the UK. This event is the first time the firm has marched independently in a pride parade, and I’m thrilled that this will take place in Leeds. We look forward to welcoming members of staff from across the UK and Europe who will march together at this event.”

DLA Piper International Head of Diversity & Inclusion, Mitra Janes, said: “At DLA Piper, we are firmly committed to diversity and inclusion. Our presence at the Leeds Pride event is part of a concerted effort to raise awareness of LGBT issues across our firm and more broadly in society.”
