With only 4 weeks to go until the first Sheffield Half Marathon Team Challenge, many local companies, sports clubs, organisations and groups of friends are coming together as they battle to be crowned the fastest team.
A race within a race, the challenge is set to be a popular feature of the Asda Foundation Sheffield Half Marathon.
The challenge is open to teams of at least four members – there is no upper limit – with the times of the first three runner’s home used to calculate the winners.
Georgia Featherstone, Sponsorship & Marketing Assistant from event organiser Run For All, said: “It’s great to welcome local businesses and groups from the Sheffield area to join us for our very first Half Marathon Team Challenge, we can’t wait to see who’s going to be crowned champions!”
Team Arm will be taking part in the Sheffield Half Marathon Team challenge on Sunday 8th April, in a bid to promote health and well-being within the office by pushing themselves both mentally and physically, all whilst raising money for their four partner charities.
Sam Mellor, one of the five runners representing Team Arm has told us what taking part means to him…
“They say that there’s a miracle cure that if taken it dramatically reduces the chances of developing long term chronic ailments that plague western societies. That miracle cure is exercise. Running does not have to be a slog, for me it’s is a source of enjoyment and relaxation that leaves me feeling happier and healthier. It’s a place to park the stresses of the day, to calm a restless mind and for a brief moment be transported elsewhere. That’s why I run, and I’d like to encourage others to do the same.”
