Housing staff in big bun sale for charity

Staff at Incommunities Group have raised over £400 for local cancer charities following a cake and bun sale.

Employees at the housing group’s Shipley base showed off their baking skills by making buns, sponges and flavoured cakes which then went on sale to colleagues.

The event, organised by its Equalities Group, collected £354 for Keighley and Airedale Cancer Support. The charity was chosen by staff in an online vote to find their favourite choice.

Geraldine Howley, Incommunities Group Chief Executive, said: “It was a real team effort to raise such a tidy sum in just one day.

“A big well done to our ‘star bakers’ and colleagues who snapped up their tasty bakes in return for a small donation.

“The fantastic work of Keighley and Airedale Cancer Support touches the lives of so many people in our communities. We are proud to support the group.”

Rachael Moorhouse from Keighley and Airedale Cancer Support said: “We are overwhelmed by the fantastic efforts of Incommunities and highly delighted they have chosen to support a local charity so dear to the hearts of many.

“The money raised will go a long way to supporting local people suffering from Cancer – providing tailored holistic therapies which reduce stress and anxiety. Our therapies range from counselling to hypnotherapy.

“Once again thanks to Incommunities for all their support.”

On the same day colleagues from Incommunities’ Sadeh Lok office in Huddersfield raised another £50 for Kirkwood Hospice with their own homemade cake sale.
