New recipe book unveiled for Easter by David Wilson Homes to celebrate Terry’s 250 year chocolate legacy

Local housebuilder, David Wilson Homes, has unveiled an exciting new chocolate themed recipe book to celebrate the 250th anniversary of Terry’s Chocolate and the rich heritage of its former factory site, now the award-winning Chocolate Works development in York.

  • The Chocolate Works is built on the site of the former Terry’s Chocolate factory and to mark its incredible past, and 250 years since the world-renowned chocolate house was founded, David Wilson Homes have created something equally as special to mark a fusion between the past and the future
  • The limited edition recipe book includes contributions from 2014 winner of The Great British Bake Off, Nancy Birtwhistle, Michelin-starred chef Andrew Pern of The Star Inn the City, York’s Chocolate Story, York College and other local businesses and partners, and is a mixture of mouth-watering recipes with one delicious thing in common: chocolate
  • The perfect gift for a chocolate-lover this Easter, the book will be available to purchase from Thursday 22nd March for just £5, roughly the price of an Easter egg, but is a chocolate gift that will last much longer than just the weekend
  • All proceeds raised will be donated to St Leonard’s Hospice, David Wilson Homes’ new 2018 charity of the year. St Leonard’s Hospice is a York-based, independent charity that provides much needed specialist palliative care and support for local people with life limiting illnesses
  • Copies of the book will be sold from David Wilson Homes’ The Chocolate Works development, York’s Chocolate Story, Robinsons Café on Bishopthorpe Road and St Leonard’s Hospice on Tadcaster Road
  • Alternatively, copies can be ordered online via the Just Giving page:
  • The award-winning Chocolate Works development boasts a stunning collection of three bedroom homes, which are available to purchase from £465,995
  • This iconic development, which boasts a superior specification of luxury finishes in a highly desirable location, was awarded Best Design at the 2016 national Housebuilder Awards

Andrew Taylor, Finance Director at David Wilson Homes Yorkshire East, commented:

“We’re thrilled to be marking such an important historical site and anniversary with this special recipe book. We’re grateful to all our contributors who devised such delicious recipes. It’s important to us that, as well as creating new homes for people, we acknowledge the history of our local areas, and we want to ensure the Terry’s chocolate legacy lives on in York.

“We’re delighted that all proceeds raised will go to such a worthy cause, our new charity of the year St Leonard’s Hospice, and hope people enjoy making the recipes as much as we’ve enjoyed creating the book.“

Nancy Birtwhistle, 2014 winner of The Great British Bake Off, commented:

“This recipe book is a wonderful opportunity for York to celebrate the anniversary of its iconic chocolatier. I am delighted to have been involved and so pleased to know other recipes have been donated too. The community are celebrating and all for a great cause.”

Annie Keogh, Corporate Fundraiser at St Leonard’s Hospice, commented:

“We’re delighted that Barratt Developments have chosen St Leonard’s as their charity of the year and are donating the proceeds from the recipe book to the Hospice. It’s such a brilliant idea! Funds raised will really make a difference and enable us to continue caring for local people who need us.”
