Case Study – Rance Booth Smith Architects supports Mind in Bradford

Charity of the Year

Every year in December we ask staff to nominate charities they would like to support the following year.  Once the nominations are in, each member of staff then votes for their chosen charity.

Mind in Bradford received the greatest number of votes for 2018.

‘Mind in Bradford’ provide information and support to anyone experiencing mental or emotional health problems, primarily throughout Bradford, Airedale, Wharfedale and Craven.  They provide a range of services which include a drop-in centre, guide-line helpline and ‘The Sanctuary’ crisis service.

We all know what it’s like to feel stressed – it can be part of everyday life. But when you’re overwhelmed by stress it may lead to mental health problems or exaggerate   existing problems. The construction industry is noted for having a particularly poor record.

In March, data released by the ONS revealed that “more than 1,400 construction workers ended their lives during 2011 – 2015, the highest in any profession.” Source www.constructionnews.co.uk

In support of our chosen charity throughout the year we raise money through a series of fundraising activities and events.  This year they have included an Easter egg competition, a bake sale outside our office during Mental Health Awareness Week, a World Cup sweepstake, various raffles at our business lunch events and a charity tuck shop in our staff kitchen.
