Yorkshire businesses are joining forces to support a Leeds-based heart charity and raise money for further research into heart disease.
Companies including Gig Retail (based in Leeds), BNI Group and Headway Recruitment (based in Leeds and Bradford), drydensfairfax solicitors (Leeds) and Your Story (Leeds) are attending Heart Research UK’s Smarty Pants Quiz, held on Thursday 22 February at Park Plaza Hotel, Leeds.
Heart Research UK, which celebrated their 50th anniversary last year, is hosting the quiz to help raise money for further research into heart disease. Their work includes recently awarding a Translational Research Project Grant worth £132,000 to the University of Leeds to look into treating a common and dangerous form of arrhythmia. This could lead to helping reduce the risk of stroke and heart failure for many across the UK, a projected funded entirely by public donations.
Jodie Thomson, Corporate Development Officer at Heart Research UK, said “We’re calling on all businesses in Yorkshire to show they have heart as well as brains.
“Yorkshire has led the way in many things. But now we want to show that Yorkshire too can lead the way in reducing the impact of heart disease for so many in the country.
“We’ve had great support already and it promises to be a really great evening. Could you take our trophy and prove yourself to be the brainiest business in Yorkshire?”
Businesses can still get involved. Book a table of 10 for £100, which includes nibbles for your table, entry into a prize draw and also a goody bag for every member of your team.
The Smarty Pants Quiz begins at 7pm on Thursday 22 February at the Park Plaza Hotel in the city-centre. An opportunity to network will be available from 5pm.
