Citizens Advice York is seeking volunteer Trustee

Citizens Advice York (CAY) is a very important organisation, never more so than at the moment. It provides advice and support to over 5,000 people a year, helping them with some 13,000 different problems; We help clients access benefits and services on topics such as welfare and housing benefits, employment, debt, energy costs and relationships particularly debt, benefits, employment and the family. We’re run by a small professional team working alongside and supporting around 500 volunteers to provide advice at the City Council offices in York, at various outreach venues around the City, by Webchat and on the phone.

Citizens Advice York is a member of the national Citizens Advice organisation. It is, though, an independent local charity at the heart of our community, entirely funded by grants, donations and fees for contracted services.

We have a vacancy for a volunteer trustee to join the Trustee Board. The trustee board has responsibility for the overall direction, strategy and performance of the Charity. It’s stimulating, responsible work with an experienced and capable group. The Board normally meets six times a year. There are also occasional committee, strategy and other meetings, including with staff and volunteers

We are looking for a volunteer trustee with a wide variety of skills and a diversity of experience. Particularly we would like to recruit trustees with the skills/time to help develop further our fundraising activity and with experience of using IT to improve customer service.
