Yorkshire Homebuilder spreads Christmas magic with Candlelighters children’s charity

Staff from 5 Star Homebuilder Barratt Developments Yorkshire West have been spreading some early festive cheer by donating their time to help Leeds based children’s cancer charity Candlelighters with some very important Christmas preparations.

The team created their very own Santa’s workshop complete with a present wrapping production line, to wrap gifts for children with cancer to help bring a smile to those who need it most.

Candlelighters, which is Barratt Developments Yorkshire West’s charity of the year, supports children and their families across Yorkshire who are affected by childhood cancer. The charity funds crucial research in childhood cancers and supports families with a variety of emotional, practical, and financial support from the moment a child is diagnosed with cancer and for as long as that support is needed.

In addition to donating time to the charity, Barratt Developments Yorkshire West has donated over £36,500 to support children with cancer and their families since they partnered with Candlelighters in 2018. This has been raised through a range of activities which include further donate a day activities and sponsored marathons. Barratt Developments Yorkshire West’s support will help ensure families receive whatever help they need, from activities on the wards to talking therapy, wellbeing, holidays, financial support and more.

David Coe, Development Director at Barratt Developments Yorkshire West, said: “We had a wonderful day wrapping presents for Candlelighters. The charity supports children with cancer and their families 365 days a year, so donating a day of our time to help them make the Christmas season happier for these families was just one way we could support them. ”

Emily Wragg, CEO at Candlelighters, commented: “We’d like to say a huge thank you to Barratt Developments Yorkshire West for their support again this year. Their generosity will bring a smile to the faces of many children from across the region and provide them and their families with a magical Christmas.”
